The Mobile Internet Resource Center reported on Aug 28, 2026 that Starlink launched Personal Maritime, a $185-a-month plan for small recreational boats. It isn't on Starlink's referral plan list, so a referral code won't add a free month to it.

In June 2026, outlets reported that Starlink had stopped selling home kits to new US Residential customers and added a monthly rental fee. By Jul 20, the fee was reported removed in select areas. Starlink's own data shows rental kits at no upfront cost.

In June 2026 Starlink began taking half off eligible monthly plans for addresses in parts of the Memphis area, where SpaceX runs data centers. It was the first of three US area discounts this year. None of them uses a code.

In May 2026 Starlink raised the monthly price of most US Residential and Roam plans. New customers paid the new prices straight away, and existing customers from billing cycles on or after Jun 18. The new prices are what starlink.com lists today.

Standby Mode price doubles, and rented kits can’t use it at all

As part of the May 2026 price changes, Starlink's Standby Mode for pausing service was reported to rise from $5 to $10 a month. Starlink's own pages add limits: rented kits can't pause, and pausing can end some offers or trigger charges.

In January 2026 Starlink replaced its US Residential and Residential Lite plans with three tiers named for speed: Residential Max, Residential 200 Mbps and Residential 100 Mbps. Existing customers were moved across. Every name is on Starlink's referral plan list.

On Jan 9, 2026, the FCC approved SpaceX's request to operate another 7,500 second-generation Starlink satellites, bringing the approved Gen2 total to 15,000. It also approved more spectrum and lower orbits. It doesn't change any code or checkout rule.

New York’s low-income Starlink plan: what it is and who qualifies

Under New York's Affordable Broadband Act, Starlink offers eligible New York households a 25 Mbps plan at a fixed low monthly price. You enroll with proof of eligibility through a support ticket, not with a code. The document still names a plan Starlink has since renamed.
