Memphis area discount: half off eligible plans, applied by address
In June 2026 Starlink began taking half off eligible monthly plans for addresses in parts of the Memphis area, where SpaceX runs data centers. It was the first of three US area discounts this year. None of them uses a code.

The short version
- What changed?
- Starlink published a "Memphis Area Discount" help article. It says the discount "is half the standard monthly price and is applied automatically" for service addresses in eligible parts of the Memphis area.
- When did it change?
- The article was created Jun 26, 2026 and last edited Aug 17, 2026 (Starlink's dates). We read it on Oct 6, 2026.
- Who is affected?
- Households with a service address inside the eligible zone on Starlink's map of the Memphis area. Others, including people elsewhere in Tennessee or Mississippi, are affected only if the map covers them.
- What should you do now?
- Enter your address on starlink.com and read the plan prices shown. Don't search for a "Memphis Starlink code". Starlink says no action is needed.
- What stays the same?
- US checkout still has no code box, and the referral free month still reaches an order only through a link. The Regional Savings article still lists only Mexico.
What happened
On Jun 26, 2026, Starlink added a help article titled Memphis Area Discount. It explains why. Earlier in 2026, SpaceX acquired xAI, which the article now calls SpaceXAI. That company runs the Colossus data centers in Memphis, Tennessee and Southaven, Mississippi. “As SpaceX continues to invest in the Memphis area”, Starlink is taking a discount off eligible monthly service plans for nearby addresses.
This was the first of three address-based US discounts in 2026. The others are Vermilion Parish, Louisiana (August) and Cameron County, Texas (October).
The terms, as Starlink states them
- Amount: half the standard monthly price, applied automatically.
- Which plans: “eligible monthly Starlink service plans”. The article doesn’t list them. The Louisiana and Texas articles name Residential plans specifically.
- Hardware: no upfront hardware cost for new Residential customers.
- Eligibility: based only on the service address, inside the zone on Starlink’s map.
- What to do: nothing. The discount appears on your next bill and continues while your address stays in the zone.
- Moving: move outside the zone and future bills lose the discount.
The article ends with a referral note: friends and family nearby can also benefit, and “you could both earn a month of free service through our referral program”. The later articles describe the referrer’s reward as cash or service credit instead. See our post on the cash option.
What it means if you were looking for a discount code
It’s the clearest case this year of a real Starlink discount that a code can’t unlock. It’s set by where the dish will be installed, which Starlink checks when you enter an address. Pages offering a “Memphis Starlink promo code” or a “Tennessee Starlink coupon” have nothing to offer, because the checkout has no field to type a code into. Our promo code guide explains how Starlink’s discounts actually reach an order: by address, by plan, or by referral link.
This post is labelled Background because the change is more than 90 days old. We’re including it because it still applies today, and because it’s the model for the two that followed.
What you can check now
- Enter your exact service address on starlink.com and compare the plan prices with the standard ones.
- After ordering, preview your next invoice under Billing in your account.
- Treat any “unlock code” for this discount as false. See our myths page.
What stays the same
There’s still no code box at US checkout, and our where to enter it guide hasn’t changed. Starlink’s Regional Savings article, which is separate from these area discounts, still names Mexico only.
What we don’t know yet
- Starlink's Memphis article doesn't say how long the discount lasts or how much notice it will give before ending it, unlike the later Louisiana and Texas articles (checked 2026-10-06).
- Starlink hasn't said whether the area discount and the referral free month can apply to the same order.
