Starlink V5 dish listed: smaller and lighter, in select areas

A Starlink help article published Jul 14, 2026 introduces the Starlink V5 home dish. It's smaller and lighter than the V4 and uses less power. It's offered in select areas, and Starlink's US order data now lists it.

The short version

What changed?
Starlink posted a help article comparing the Starlink V4 and the new Starlink V5. It says the V5 has "a smaller form factor, new lightweight design, greater power efficiency" and is "currently available in select areas".
When did it change?
The article was created Jul 14, 2026 (Starlink's date). We read it, and the US Residential order data that lists V5 kits, on Oct 6, 2026.
Who is affected?
New US Residential buyers whose address is offered the V5. It isn't meant for RVs, boats or other in-motion use, so Roam buyers who travel are less affected.
What should you do now?
When you enter your address, note which dish the order page offers. If a site sells a "V5 promo code", ignore it. The kit offered depends on your address, not on a code.
What stays the same?
How the referral reaches checkout doesn't depend on the dish. It's still inside the link. Starlink's referral plan list is about service plans, not dish models.

What happened

On Jul 14, 2026, Starlink published a help article titled What are the differences between Starlink V4 and Starlink V5? It’s the first Starlink help text we’ve found that describes the V5. It’s a new home dish that Starlink says is “built to deliver reliable home internet”. The article says the V5 is available in select areas now and will reach more areas “as production ramps”.

Starlink V4 Starlink V5
Peak download (hardware capability) 400+ Mbps 375+ Mbps
Size 594 × 383 × 39.7 mm 384 × 306 × 34 mm
Weight 2.9 kg (6.4 lb) 1.1 kg (2.4 lb)
Average power use 75–100 W 35–50 W
Router compatibility Router 2, 3 and Router Mini Router 2, 3 and Router Mini

The V5 also comes with a pipe adapter mount. Starlink says the stated speeds are peak hardware speeds, and actual speeds depend on the plan and availability. The V5 is not intended for in-motion use.

What the US order data shows

On Oct 6, 2026 we read the plan and kit data that starlink.com/residential loads with no address entered. It includes a “Starlink V5 Kit” and a “Rental Kit (Starlink V5)”, next to Standard 4 and Standard 4 X kits. The address-free data doesn’t tell you which kit a particular address will be offered. Only the order page does that, once you enter your address.

What it means if you’re using a referral code

The dish model doesn’t change how a referral reaches checkout. Starlink’s help article on using a referral link says to open the link, sign up for Residential or Roam on starlink.com, then activate and stay subscribed. Its list of plans that get the credit names service plans, not dishes. So whether the order page offers you a V4 or a V5, the steps in our where to enter it guide are the same.

New hardware launches often bring a wave of “new dish discount code” posts. There isn’t a public code for this one either. If the V5 is cheaper or offered as a rental where you live, the order page will show that once you enter your address.

What you can check now

  1. Enter your address on starlink.com from the link you were given and see which kit is offered.
  2. If you need to use Starlink while moving, read Starlink’s note that the V5 isn’t meant for in-motion use.
  3. Check for “Referral Code Applied” on the order page before you pay.

What stays the same

There’s still no code box. The referral benefit for a new customer is still one free month on the second bill. Our glossary explains kit, plan and rental, and our FAQ covers the timing.

What we don’t know yet

  • Starlink hasn't said which US areas get the V5 first, or when it will be offered more widely (checked 2026-10-06).
  • Starlink hasn't said whether buyers can choose between V4 and V5 at the same address.
