Starlink referral code myths vs facts

Forum threads, coupon pages and old articles repeat the same twelve claims. Here’s each one next to what Starlink’s own text says, how sure we are, and when we checked.

The pattern

Nearly every myth comes from treating a referral code like a store coupon. It isn’t one. It’s a customer’s link that gets a new customer one free month, and it only works if you open it before ordering on starlink.com.

Myth

There’s a box at checkout where you type a Starlink referral code.

What’s true

We found no such box in Starlink’s own steps. Every step starts with opening the link, and the code reaches checkout inside the web address. You check it worked by looking for “Referral Code Applied” on the order page.

Myth

Coupon sites list working Starlink promo codes.

What’s true

Starlink’s help text describes discounts that appear on their own at checkout for your address. None of it mentions a promo-code field. A code from a coupon site has nowhere to go.

Myth

You can add a code after you’ve ordered.

What’s true

A guide that walks through the program says there’s no way to add it later, and Starlink’s own steps put the link before sign-up. Use the link before you order.

Myth

Any country’s code works in the US.

What’s true

Your service address has to be in the same country as that of the customer whose code you use. For a US address, that means a code from a US customer.

Myth

There’s a hidden US “regional savings” code.

What’s true

Starlink’s Regional Savings article lists one eligible area, Mexico. Where savings do exist, they apply on their own, with no code.
