Cameron County, Texas area discount: half off Residential, no code

What happened

Starlink added a help article for a new Cameron County Area Discount. The article explains the reason in one line: Starbase, Texas is home to SpaceX’s headquarters, and many of its staff live in the Rio Grande Valley. For addresses inside an eligible zone, Starlink says it is taking 50% off the standard monthly price of Residential plans.

The article is the third of its kind in 2026. A Memphis area discount appeared in June and a Vermilion Parish, Louisiana discount in August. All three work the same way. Eligibility is based only on the service address, the discount is applied automatically, and nothing has to be typed.

How the discount works, in Starlink’s words

• Amount: half the standard monthly price of a Residential plan.
• Hardware: the article says new customers pay no upfront hardware cost for Residential service.
• Who: service addresses in the eligible zone shown on Starlink’s map.
• What you do: nothing. The discounted price shows on your next bill.
• How long: for as long as the service address stays in the zone. Starlink says it may stop offering the discount to new customers at any time. Customers who already have it get at least 6 months’ notice before it ends.
• Moving: if you move outside the zone, future bills go back to the normal price.

What it means if you were looking for a code

This is a real discount, and it can’t be reached with a code. That matters because “Starlink discount code Texas” pages tend to appear soon after news like this. Under Starlink’s own description, a code has nowhere to go. The only input is your address, and the result shows on starlink.com when you enter it.

The article also sends readers who want to share the discount to Starlink’s referral page. That’s a separate thing. A referral gives a qualifying new customer one free month on their second bill. The area discount is a price cut tied to the address. Starlink’s article doesn’t say whether the two stack, so we don’t say they do.

What you can check now

1. Enter your service address on starlink.com and look at the monthly price for each Residential plan.
2. If you already ordered, open Billing → Preview invoice in your Starlink account. Starlink’s help center says the invoice preview shows any promotion or discount that has been applied.
3. Treat any page that claims to have a “Cameron County promo code” as wrong. Our promo code guide explains why there’s no public US promo code.

What stays the same

There is still no code box at US checkout. Our where to enter it guide still applies as written. The Regional Savings article, which some coupon pages cite, still lists Mexico as its only eligible area (read Oct 6, 2026).
