Promo codes & discounts

Discount code, promo pricing, Regional Savings, referral: compared

Four terms, four very different mechanisms. Only two can apply to a US order, and neither involves typing a code.

Key takeaways

  • Promotional service pricing: automatic, by address, in select areas. No code.
  • Regional Savings: automatic, by area. Starlink's article lists only Mexico.
  • Referral: open a current customer's link. A new US customer gets one free month, credited to bill 2.
  • Discount or promo code: we found no public US code and no box to type one into.
  • None of them removes a demand surcharge, which Starlink sets by address and plan.
On this page

People use four phrases when they look for a Starlink discount, and they’re four different things. Promotional service pricing is a lower monthly price for a fixed period in select areas, shown automatically for your address. Regional Savings is a one-time saving by area; Starlink’s article lists only Mexico. The referral is an existing customer’s link that gives a new US customer one free month, credited to the second bill. A discount or promo code that you type in doesn’t exist in any public form for the US, and we found no box to type one into. So for a US order, two can apply (promo pricing if your address has it, and the referral), and neither involves typing a code.

The four in one table

Table of four options. Promotional service pricing: applied automatically by your address when you order; select areas only. Regional Savings: applied automatically by area; article lists only Mexico. Referral link: applied by opening a current customer's link; yes, one free month on bill 2. Promo or discount code: typed into a box; no public code and no box.

How each is applied

Promotional service pricing

Starlink’s help center says that in select areas, new customers can get discounted service pricing for a fixed period of time (its examples are 6 or 12 months). The key line for code hunters: If discounted service pricing is available in your area, you will see the discount service price offering at the time you place your order on starlink.com.

So it’s driven by your service address, and it shows up on the order page on its own. There’s nothing to find, copy or type. Starlink doesn’t publish which US areas have it at any given time, and we won’t guess.

Two conditions to know: Starlink says customers who change their service plan, cancel, or are suspended lose their promotional pricing. If you’re tempted by a cheaper promotional price on one plan with a plan to switch later, factor that in.

Regional Savings

Starlink describes Regional Savings as a one-time saving in eligible areas. When we read the article, the eligible list had exactly one entry: Mexico. No US area. If that changes, we’ll note it in our changes log. Like promo pricing, it’s applied by location; there’s no code.

The referral

The referral is the only one of the four that comes from another customer. An existing customer copies their link from their account; you open it; the code at the end of the address (?referral=RC-…) attaches the referral when you order on starlink.com. Starlink’s terms say the order must be placed using the Unique Referral Link provided by the Referrer and that no other referral mechanism qualifies.

What you get as a new customer: one free month of service on the eligible plan you choose. You pay month one; the credit comes off your second bill. The plans covered are Starlink’s Residential and Roam plans (our plan table lists them). Full rules on eligibility aren’t the subject of this page; the short version is that you must be new to Starlink, order directly on starlink.com, and have a US service address for a US referral.

Discount or promo code

This is the one most people search for, and the one that doesn’t exist for US orders as far as we can find. A typed code needs a box at checkout; we found no such box, and Starlink’s help-center text on discounts never asks you to type one. The codes on coupon sites have nowhere to go: see why coupon sites list Starlink codes that do nothing.

Worked examples

All prices are Starlink’s US list prices from the data starlink.com loads with no address entered, read Oct 5, 2026. Your address may show different prices, promotional pricing, or a demand surcharge.

Roam 300GB, with a referral. Listed at $80/mo. You pay month one at $80/mo plus the kit. With a referral, the second bill is credited one month: a saving of $80/mo. From month three you pay the normal price.

Residential Max, with a referral. Listed at $130/mo. The referral credit on bill two is worth $130/mo.

Residential 100 Mbps, promotional pricing. Listed at $55/mo where it’s offered (Starlink marks it select areas only). If your address qualifies for promotional pricing, the order page shows a lower price for a fixed period instead. We can’t tell you how much lower, because Starlink doesn’t publish US promotional prices outside the order flow, and it varies by address.

Any plan, with a “discount code”. No effect. There’s no box.

Across the plans with prices in our data, the referral’s free month is worth $55–$175, depending on plan.

What none of them removes

Starlink describes a demand surcharge: a one-time fee that may apply in high-demand locations when you buy or activate, set by your service address and the plan you choose. Nothing in Starlink’s material says a referral, promotional pricing or any code removes it. If your order summary shows one, it’s part of the price at that address.

The kit is also separate. The referral gives a month of service, not money off the dish. (The old 12-month Residential plan with a no-cost kit is discontinued for new activations, per Starlink.)

Which apply in the US today

Option Applies to a US order?
Promotional service pricing Yes, if your address is in a select area
Regional Savings No (Mexico only, per Starlink’s article)
Referral Yes, for new customers ordering on starlink.com
Discount / promo code No (none found, no box)

Whether promotional pricing and a referral can both apply to the same order isn’t something Starlink publishes. We’d love to say yes or no; we can’t, so we won’t.

Decision guide: which applies to you

Find your situation. Each line says which of the four ideas can apply to your order.

Your situation Promo pricing Regional Savings Referral Discount code
New to Starlink, US service address, ordering on starlink.com If your area has it No Yes, with a current customer’s link No
Returning Starlink customer (had service before) If your area has it and you qualify as new under its terms No No: Starlink says returning customers aren’t eligible No
Buying a kit from a store or reseller Not through the store; check starlink.com No No: store-bought kits don’t qualify No
Service address in Mexico Per Starlink’s terms for that area Possibly, per the article Needs a referrer in the same country No
Ordering a Business, maritime or aviation plan Not covered here No No: not on the referral plan list No

A few notes on the table. Promotional pricing terms are Starlink’s, and they say the offer is for new customers in select areas; we don’t know exactly how Starlink defines “new” for promotional pricing, so the returning-customer row is hedged. The Mexico row is there only because Regional Savings lists Mexico; this site covers US addresses only.

How each one can end

Savings have conditions, and it’s worth knowing them before you order:

  • Promotional pricing runs for a fixed period, and Starlink says it ends early if you change your service plan, cancel, or are suspended. If you’re likely to switch plans in the first months, the promotional price may not last.
  • The referral is a one-time credit on your second bill. It depends on staying subscribed for the qualifying period; the details of eligibility and timing are outside this page.
  • Regional Savings is described by Starlink as one-time.
  • A discount code can’t end, because it never started.

A free month is nice but small next to a multi-year bill. If you have a reliable wired connection (fiber or cable) at a lower monthly price, no Starlink discount changes that comparison much. The referral is worth using if you’ve already decided Starlink fits; it’s not a reason on its own to switch.

Questions people ask

What discounts does Starlink offer in the US?

Two things can apply to a US order: promotional service pricing, which appears automatically in select areas, and the referral, which comes from an existing customer's link. We found no public US discount code.

What is Starlink Regional Savings?

A one-time saving Starlink offers in certain areas. Its help article currently lists only one eligible area, Mexico, so it doesn't apply to US orders as of our last check.

How do I know if my address gets Starlink promotional pricing?

Enter your service address on starlink.com and go to the order page. Starlink says that if discounted pricing is available in your area, you'll see it there when you order.

Can I combine a referral with promotional pricing?

Starlink doesn't publish how the two interact. Promotional pricing appears by address; the referral comes from a link. We can't confirm whether both apply to one order.

Is there a Starlink discount code for the dish?

We found none for the US. Starlink's checkout has no box for a code, and the referral gives a free month of service, not money off the kit.

Does a referral or promo pricing remove the demand surcharge?

Nothing Starlink publishes says so. Starlink describes the demand surcharge as a one-time fee in high-demand areas, set by your service address and the plan you pick.
